After Italy's victory against Russia, Latvia wanted to complete the "Mission impossible" against the Czech Repbulic and get into the semis by a win against their this evening's opponent. Nevertheless, the Czech team were the definite favourites in this match.
After 61 seconds, Martin Ostransky scored the first goal of the game, which was an interesting fight with just a few opportunities for both teams. The Czech team managed to get more chances in second period and thus lead 5:1 after fourty minutes. Latvia showed a great fight and never gave up, but nevertheless, they just managed to decrease the Czech lead by one goal in the final period.
